During my childhood days, I saw small square copper sheet inscribed with interlocked interwoven,triangles in Puja (Prayer Room) of my grandparents. When asked what it is, the answer was a sacred Yantra, which brings money and luck. When I grown up, I come to know that it was Shri Yantra. But it has some thing to do with people with higher intelligence and mightier capabilities somewhere in the other part of universe, this I came to know after coming to Seattle, not very far away from nearby Oregon State, where a huge Shri Yantra was found overnight on a dried lake bed, not possible for any human being to create such a mammoth piece of work in such a short span. May be these higher intelligent people leave their foot prints as a sort of their signature.
In ancient India Yantras,the two dimensional geometrical structures were used for sidhas, sadhaks as a part of their religious rituals. Yantras are found engraved or inscribed in all the old temples. Sri Yantra, , is called the mother of all Yantras because it is said that all other Yantras were derived from it. In its three dimensional forms Sri Yantra is said to represent Mount Meru, the cosmic mountain at the center of the universe.
The Sri Yantra is conceived as a place of spiritual pilgrimage. It is a representation of the cosmos at the macrocosmic level and of the human body at the microcosmic level (each of the circuits correspond to a chakra of the body).
The Sri Yantra is a configuration of nine interlocking triangles, surrounded by two circles of lotus petals with the whole encased within a gated frame, called the "earth citadel". The nine interlocking triangles centered around the bindu (the central point of the yantra) are drawn by the superimposition of five downward pointing triangles, representing Shakti ; the female principle and four upright triangles, representing Shiva ; the male principle. The nine interlocking triangles form forty three small triangles each housing a presiding deity associated with particular aspects of existence.
Man's spiritual journey from the stage of material existence to ultimate enlightenment is mapped on the Sri Yantra. The spiritual journey is taken as a pilgrimage in which every step is an ascent to the center, a movement beyond one's limited existence, and every level is nearer to the goal. Such a journey is mapped in stages, and each of these stages corresponds with one of the circuits of which the Sri Yantra is composed from the outer plane to the bindu in the center.
The Sri Yantra is a tool to give a vision of the totality of existence, so that the adept may internalize its symbols for the ultimate realization of his unity with the cosmos. But whole world had taken serious notice of Shri Yantra in 1990, when in the dessert of Oregon State in USA, this Yantra was found engraved on dried lake bed, and behold, in the length of 13.5 miles, the lines of this structure were 10" wide and 3" deep, this area is covered by Airforce sorties on day in and day out basis, but this structure was suddenly surfaced mysteriously !
Over the past 25 years, there has been much speculation about the origin of the 1990 Shri Yantra earth scraping that appeared in a remote dry lake bed in Oregon, near the Idaho border. Nearly as soon as the discovery was made tales of illuminated objects--spheres of light, made headlines along with claims by individuals asserting to have made the design.
Might it ALL be connected?
Among the related phenomenon called, crop circles mostly found in Europe , it is well noted by researchers that the appearances of light phenomena is often repeatedly sighted in the same fields where both natuaral and man-made formations have been created. Might this phenomena also have played a role in the Shri Yantra earth etching? What motivating stimulus inspired the builders to select the site, and pattern? History has shown that one need not be aware of the phenomena in order to be deeply interacting with it.
A very large, perfectly formed, ancient Hindu mandala called the Shri Yantra was discovered inscribed into the dry lake bed by an Airforce pilot on a normal training run from a base near Boise, Idaho. This symbol was over a quarter of a mile in length, and consisted of over 13 miles of lines etched into the impacted mud 3-10 deep. No human or tire tracks were found anywhere near the site. A group of 5 artists from Iowa claimed responsibility for the symbol's appearance saying they carved the entire design with a garden cultivator during a nine-day period.Nobody took their claim seriously, as no other pilots or anyone else reported seeing the design at any stage of construction.
Analysis of the formations line indicated that the soil had been removed, whereas the artists garden cultivator / plow method produced small mounds of dirt on either side of their demonstration lines left from where they plowed
Two researchers, Don Newman and Alan Decker visited the site on September 15, 1990, and reported the symbol as being furrowed into the dry lake bed about 3" deep, noting that the area was noticeably missing any signs of tire tracks or foot prints even though their own tire tracks left 1/4" deep marks on the crusty surface of the dry lake bed. After further investigation their colleague, Jim Deardorff, wrote the story for UFO Magazine.
A little over a year later, Deardorff learned from Jennifer Brown-Jacobs, who at the time had been head of the Portland UFO Group, that two men had a UFO sighting in the area during this same period. They'd been camping with a sail-plane group at the western edge of the Alvord Dessert near that dry lake bed. Their sighting took place the evening of July 5 or 6th around 10 pm. They reported seeing an array of three bright lights, the color of sodium-vapor lamps, forming an equilateral triangular with the apex facing upwards to the northeast. The array occupied about three degrees width and lasted ten minutes.
They didn't think much of it at the time and when they looked that way again 20 minutes later the lights were gone. However, they noticed a strange small puffy cloud where the lights had been. Extending from the cloud were two straight appendages positioned at 2:30 and 8:30 respectively at 12 degrees overall. They estimated its location as eight miles away and 15 degrees above the horizon. This placed it directly over the dry lake bed. They watched the stationary cloud for about an hour. Due to the eyewitness accounts, the sighting was classified as an unidentified, and was later associated with the Shri Yantra earth scraping.
Speculation continued after reviewing all the evidence of this case and researcheres wondered at the improbability of a group of older, well dressed men from another state, would go to such great lengths to convince the public that they were responsible for the design.

"For some time this event was treated with the head scratching bewilderment that accompanies crop formations. On the ground investigations revealed no tell tale signs of vehicles or human intervention. Word spread fast that it was an extra terrestrial event. People were intrigued and fascinated but got stuck on the how? and the wow?
Researchers spent the following couple of years monitoring the changes in the formation. There was an increased feeling of harmony in the area and two years later, with the lines almost gone, the structure of the soil had changed. The overall result was increased rainfall and more organic matter. It is also claimed that there is an inverse correlation between the lines disappearing and an increase in the enlivened laws of nature (parallel to the increased dilution imparting increasing levels of strength in homeopathy). This I believe could have some mysterious correlation with the power of reciprocals but Ill leave someone more scientific to pick up on that idea.
A couple of years after the formation of the Shri Yantra a geyser spring appeared 12 miles away. The only natural geyser spring in Oregon ! For 4 months it spouted 210 feet into the air. Could the presence of geometric form, which after all is at the foundation of life and the interface between different phases of matter, be Natures way of ensuring plenty?
It is believed that there are many other civilisations , which are much more intelligent and advanced in culture and technology exists other part of universe. They travel frequently to the earth and leave their marks of visit.
It is believed believed in ancient Indian scriptures that if Shri Yantra is made in three dimensional structure it is replica of Mount Meru, a golden mountain, centre of universe. As per the Hindu, Budhists and Jain scriptures :
Mount Meru and its surroundings are home not just of deities, but also other beings of popular mythology who rarely intrude on the human world.
- Above Meru is Brahmalok or the 'Abode of Brahma' and on its various levels are present various other demi-gods.
- The Highest Physical Heaven, Trayastrimsa or the 'Abode of 33 Devas', lies on its peak and is the dwelling place of Indra , the Lord of Demi-gods.
- The Chaturmahārājikāyika or the 'Four-Guardians-of-Directions' (mentioned in the prayer in the beginning), live on its slopes.
- Below them, is the dwelling space of other magical species such as the Apsaras, Gandharvs, Nagas, Yakshas, Siddhas, Vidyadhars and the Kumbhandas.
- Below all these, in and around the ocean, at the base of Meru, dwell the Asuras.
