Deep thoughts, soft and tender adaygee made Menhdi Hasan Gulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota overnight celebrities. In fact their concert fees was higher than popular playback singers. But from last ten fifteen years, bollywood music reinvented itself and again people switched into bollywood. Ghazal singing has reached at the lowest, hardly 10 to 15 Ghazal collections come to market even in those collection most of the Ghazals are from the yester years. This time some old school Ghazal singers gathered together and tried to revive Ghazals. He described him as ‘Ajeeb’ – unique in his way and approach as he was very informal, candid and friendly and could create a special bonding with everybody he met. He has throughout been a true friend and inspiration for me. With this Ghazal night I wish to pay my tribute to him.” Chitra Singh, wife of late Jagjit Singh fondly remembers her husband and said that Anup ji and Talat ji had already praised him for his contribution to the art of Ghazal singing .
