It is purely discretion of host country to grant nationality or Permanent Resident status to the immigrant workers. But in USA the position is slightly different. Knowledge workers are virtually running backbone of technology there, with their sheer hard work and cutting edge skills . So it is in the own interest of US Government to give these relentless workers their dues . They work very hard to find niche, secure respectable living and thus admired for this unique quality in US Administration circles also but the fact is that no body is bothered abot their well being.
Recently thousands of such knowledge workers felt happy that finally their valuable contribution to US economy and tech backbone is appreciated. They received letter from US Administration saying that their Green Card request is processed after almost 5-6 years, enthusiastically they started getting various documents, fixing up various medical appointments.
Suddenly the rude shock come in in the form of October visa bulletin reversal and thousand have been impacted by it. To summarize, on September 9, 2015, green card dates had moved forward and many of bright minds spent countless hours putting paperwork in order, setting up doctor appointments, getting photographs, etc. in hopes that the wait is finally over and they very close to getting our EADs. However, on September 25, 2015, the department of homeland security issued a revised visa bulletin stating that Dates for Filing Applications have been adjusted [backwards] to better reflect a time frame justifying immediate action in the application process.
This happened at the time of our Honble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi's much high pitched US visit. While he was busy in his best ever PR exercise with high and mighty of US Government , his emotional Town Hall Talks in presence of Fortune 500 Tech companies such as Facebook and Google bosses, many people in the crowd there were such victims. But he might not be aware about this gross injustice.
The Victims of this injustice have decided to start their protest in an unique way Gandhigiri .They first plan to create awareness about the injustice of October Visa Bulletin reversal and to express their best wishes to DHS, even in the face of not treating us fairly. Immigration Voice is launching a campaign to send flowers to the DHS office on October 1st quite aptly a day before Gandhiji's birthday who is regarded as symbol of non violence world over. It is yet to be seen that this flower protest bring any luck for them but it is high time for Government of India as well as Mr Modi in particular to use its good offices to help these immigrants who have made India proud by virtually running backbone of American economy.
