Issaquah Highlands Photography Club (IHPC) is active in encouraging young enthusiastic photographers, organises photo walks, talks and workshop every month . Today the Club invited Ray Green to give his preszntation about his quest into nature photography.
Quips Ray, ' I was retired in the year 2008, and thereafter my quest for photography started.' when asked how he has entered into this creative zone.
Ray knew few basics about photography but after retirement he suddenly realized that he has enough time at his disposal so he can pursue this fine art as serious Second Innings. He started taking journeys to far flung places as well as lakes, falls, forests close to Seattle. Camping at a place to observe the nature and then shoot series of pictures in different part of day to click the best shot.
Ray also gives credit to his wife in his pursuit to become a professional photographer to his wife as she goes on these walks, drives along with him and allows him to experiment without out any hindrance, rather she prefers to relax in the car while he takes longer hours to capture his prized shot.
Ray feels that photographing wild life is more challenging as your subject takes his own time giving you the best shot ! In wildlife photography you have to spend longer hours with your subject but then it is a very rewarding experience.
Ray says that photography is rewarding in terms of satisfying your creative urge also rewarding in monetary terms also. He shared his experience with site called 500pix, they provide you a good platform to show case your work and share the revenue generated out of sale of your clicks.
When asked how he learnt nature photography, he says that a series of books about photography in most of the state has come very handy particularly about Washington and Oregon states both have natures' bounty in abundance.
When I asked him how he looks India as photography location, he says that he heard a lot about cultural variety as well as nature's bounty and he would like to travel to India to capture this rich tapestry.
