waterfrontin

While B was busy doing fishy things last Sunday I took the boys down to the waterfront.  It was yet another gorgeous sunny day in Auckland and lovely to stroll about with my sweeties, jumping and splashing and looking at the super yachts.  I realised that the boys had never been down the far end of the viaduct before and so it was nice to take them somewhere new.
After enjoying the luxury boats we headed to the Cloud on Queens Wharf to check out the Queen's Birthday celebrations.  There were Highland dancers, bagpipes, English markets, Devonshire teas, wooden games and a puppet show.  We played some tennis and went on a Famous Five adventure.

The boys helped the Famous Five find the missing crown jewels by decoding and following the clues, learning a little bit about Britain in the process.  They also loved laughing at themselves in the carnival mirrors.

This cool bike repair station (free) was nearby too.  It had every tool a cyclist might need, a handy rack to pop your bike on while fixing it and a pump.  How wonderful.  I love all of the innovative and creative things that seem to pop up at the waterfront.
We found a sweet spot for reading... this wee container library is a place to borrow and leave books for others to enjoy.  We didn't have any to share but it's good to know for next time we visit.
